The Psychology Coalition at the United Nations

The Psychology Coalition at the United Nations (PCUN) is composed of representatives of psychology and psychology-related organizations that are non-governmental organizations (NGOs) with consultative status to the United Nations (UN) Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), and those affiliated with UN departments, agencies and missions.

  • APA is the leading scientific and professional organization representing psychology in the United States, with more than 157,000 researchers, educators, clinicians, consultants, and students as its members.

  • The Association for Trauma Outreach and Prevention (ATOP) MeaningfulWorld is an International Non-Governmental Organization (INGO) affiliated with the United Nations Department of Global Communication.

  • The Canadian Psychological Association (CPA) is the largest national association for the science, practice and education of psychology in Canada.

  • The European Health Psychology Society (EHPS) is a professional organisation formed to promote empirical and theoretical research in and applications of health psychology within Europe as well as the interchange of information related to health psychology with other associations throughout the world towards an international achievement of these aims.

  • Our mission of human rights and social justice is demonstrated by contributing to the advancement / wellness of our profession and community in two major domains: a) direct health / mental health services to under-resources, diverse target populations; and b) workforce development / clinical training programs for mental health professionals of all disciplines.

  • Founded in 1920, the International Association of Applied Psychology is the oldest and largest international association of individual members and affiliate international associations. Its official languages are English and French. As stated in Article 1 of its Constitution, its mission is to “promote the science and practice of applied psychology and to facilitate ineraction and communicationt among applied psychologists around the world.”

  • ICP is committed ti promoting human rights, dignity and justice, and strengthening collaboration among researchers, educators, and applied professionals globally to further international understanding and world peace.

  • The International Union of Psychological Science (IUPsyS) works to promote the development, representation and advancement of psychology as a basic and applied science nationally, regionally, and internationally. The main activities of the IUPsyS focus on fostering the development of the science and practice of psychology.

  • SIOP is the premier professional association for the science and practice of I-O psychology.

  • Founded in 1936, SPSSI is a group of over 3000 scientists from psychology and related fields and others who share a common interest in research on the psychological aspects of important social and policy issues. In various ways, SPSSI seeks to bring theory and practice into focus on human problems of the group, the community, and nations, as well as the increasingly important problems that have no national boundaries.

  • The World Council for Psychotherapy is a Non Governmental Organization of the United Nations Organization affiliated to the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) since May 2003.

  • WFMH is an international human rights organization that was founded as early as 1948 to promote prevention, care, and proper treatment of emotional and mental illness among all nations and people as well as general mental health and well-being.
